Churchill generated more published words than Dickens and Shakespeare combined by pacing around Chartwell Manor, dictating to typists for hours. He spoke his thoughts directly, edited later, and produced extraordinary volume without sacrificing quality.

That's the workflow we wanted. Speak your thoughts. Capture them instantly. Edit afterwards.

The problem? We live in the terminal. Every dictation tool drags us into a GUI, shattering focus and killing flow. TUI Writer is a side project we built to change that.

Transcribe speech right in your terminal. Edit by voice—like saying 'change that to...' without ever leaving your workspace. Capture and edit in real-time before exporting.

We discovered hyprwhspr (https://lnkd.in/ee4Pbb8G) after starting, excellent for system-wide dictation. TUI Writer takes a different approach: a dedicated space for drafting by voice, editing by voice, and refining before you use it.
